Wer gewinnt den Primetime Emmy 2016? Soeben wurden die Nominierungen für den wichtigsten Fernsehpreis der USA in Los Angeles bekanntgegeben. Zu den Nominierten gehören dieses Jahr Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot, Homeland und The Americans. Im Bereich Comedy gehen Veep - Die Vizepräsidentin, Black-ish und Master of None ins Rennen. Die heiß umkämpfte Sektion Limited Series vereint 2016 Serien wie Fargo, American Crime Story und The Night Manager.
In den Hauptkategorien übergangen wurden hingegen Kritikerlieblinge wie Orange Is the New Black, The Leftovers, Fresh Off The Boat, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend und Show Me a Hero.
Insgesamt 23 Nominierungen gehen dieses Jahr an Game of Thrones (letztes Jahr waren es 24), während HBO mit 94 am meisten Nominierungen unter allen Sendern vorweisen kann. Stark vertreten sind dieses Jahr aber auch der Kabelsender FX (American Crime Story) sowie die Streaming-Anbieter Netflix (House of Cards) und Amazon (Transparent).
Die Emmys werden jährlich von der Academy of Television Arts & Sciences für herausragende Leistungen im Fernsehgeschäft verliehen. Die 68. Verleihung der Primetime Emmys findet am 18.09.2016 im Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles statt. Late Night-Host Jimmy Kimmel führt durch die Veranstaltung, die in den USA bei ABC ausgestrahlt wird. In Deutschland überträgt der Pay-TV-Sender TNT Serie die Emmys dann live in der Nacht von Sonntag auf Montag ab 1 Uhr.
