Wenngleich FOX in den vergangenen Monaten schon sein gesamtes Programm an den Start gebracht hat, steht der Oktober noch ganz im Zeichen der Herbstsaison bei den US-amerikanischen Networks. ABC, CBS und NBC schicken Serien wie Conviction, Pure Genius und Timeless ins Rennen, während The CW mit einer ganzen Front an Superhelden aufwartet, die allesamt Teil des Arrowverse sind. Neben Arrow, The Flash und Legends of Tomorrow gesellt sich dieses Jahr zum ersten Mal Supergirl in diese Runde, nachdem CBS das Format im Rahmen der Upfronts 2016 an The CW abgetreten hat. Außerdem kehrt Friends-Veteran Matt LeBlanc mit der Comedy-Serie Man With A Plan ins Network-Fernsehen zurück.
Auch die Kabelsender punkten im Oktober mit vielversprechenden Neustarts. HBO schickt gleich drei neue Serien ins Rennen um die beste Quote, namentlich Westworld, Insecure und Divorce, die sicherlich alle einen Blick wert sind. Und wer weiß: Vielleicht erwartet uns mit der Adaption von Michael Crichtons gleichnamigem Kultfilm bereits das nächste Game of Thrones. Hulu wartet derweil mit der 5. Staffel von The Mindy Project auf und gibt Hugh Laurie nach seinem Abstecher in The Night Manager noch eine Chance. Ob die Figuren in The Walking Dead eine Chance gegen Bösewicht Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) haben, wird sich zudem Ende des Monats zeigen, wenn die 7. Staffel der Zombie-Horror-Serie ihre lang ersehnte Premiere auf AMC feiert.
